Privacy Policy for Mugen Shorts
Effective Date: September 21, 2026
1. Introduction
Mugen Stream ("we," "us," or "our") built the Mugen Shorts app (Android package fun.mugenstream.shorts) as a free, ad-supported application with an optional paid membership. This policy explains what the app collects, what it does not, and the choices you have. It applies to Mugen Shorts only; the policy covering all of our apps is at https://mugenstream.fun/privacy-policy.
Mugen Shorts is a catalogue and player. It indexes short dramas that are hosted by third parties and plays them from where they are hosted. We do not host the video files.
2. Using the app without an account
You can browse, search and watch free episodes without signing in. In that case we hold no personal information about you. The app still talks to our server to load the catalogue and to resolve a video link, and those requests carry what any internet request carries (IP address, app version, the time), which is processed to deliver the service and to protect it from abuse.
3. If you sign in
Signing in is optional and uses Google Sign-In. When you sign in, Google gives us your name, email address and profile picture, and we create an account for you. We never see your Google password. Against that account we store:
- your list (the series you save), so new-episode alerts and My List work;
- your watch progress (which episode, and how far in), so Continue Watching follows you between devices;
- comments you post, and your likes on episodes;
- the push-notification token of each device you sign in on;
- the state of your VIP membership and any ad unlock.
We use this only to run those features. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed in section 6, to the extent each needs it.
4. What stays on your device
These never leave your phone and are not sent to us: your playback settings (speed, quality, subtitles, mute), dramas you hid from your feed, the catalogue language you chose, episodes you download for offline viewing, and the app's cache. Your sign-in token is kept in Android's encrypted storage. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
5. Search
Search terms are counted anonymously so the app can suggest popular searches. They are not linked to an account or a device.
6. Third-party services
The app uses these services, each under its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob, to show advertisements, including the rewarded ads you can choose to watch to unlock episodes. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Firebase Cloud Messaging, to deliver push notifications. https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in. https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Play Billing, if you buy VIP. Google takes the payment; we never receive your card details. We receive only a purchase token, which our server checks with Google so it can switch your membership on.
The app contains no analytics SDK of our own and does not build an advertising profile of you.
7. Advertising and your choices
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings under Google > Ads. A VIP membership is optional and is not required to use the app.
8. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we send an alert when a series on your list gains an episode. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings; the app works the same without them.
9. Permissions
- Internet and network state: to load the catalogue and stream video, and to tell an unmetered connection from a metered one, so automatic downloads never use mobile data.
- Notifications: for the alerts described above. Optional.
- Foreground service (data sync): so an episode download you started can finish while the app is in the background.
- Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob.
The app does not request your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
10. Children
Mugen Shorts is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Keeping and deleting your data
Account data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account, and everything listed in section 3, at any time: in the app under Profile > Delete account, or by following https://mugenstream.fun/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. It does not cancel a Google Play subscription - cancel that in Google Play first. You can also remove individual items without deleting the account: a series from your list, a title from Continue Watching, or a comment you wrote.
12. Security
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Every request for a paid episode is checked on the server, so tampering with the app cannot unlock content or expose another person's data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date above shows when it last changed, and significant changes will be announced in the app or on our website.
